1. The A2 cap is a value, not a part

An A2 version is capped at 35 kW, about 47 horsepower. That cap does not come from a different engine but from the calibration: bounded torque request, contained throttle opening, sometimes a dedicated spark map. Pistons, intake and exhaust are those of the full version.

This is exactly where HP Tuners works. VCM Editor gives access to those tables exactly as the manufacturer wrote them, which makes it possible to restore the full-power configuration without bypassing engine strategies or faking a signal. The full reasoning is developed in our article on HP Tuners.

2. What the motorcycle gets back

  • Low and mid-range torque, the one most missed out of a corner and on pick-up.
  • A crisp throttle : the rider's request is no longer filtered through a cap.
  • The manufacturer's original top end, that of the unrestricted version of the same model.
  • Engine protections kept : we work inside the factory tables, not against them.
  • A free rollback : the A2 configuration saved before the mapping is restored with the RTD4.

3. Step by step, from the click to the road

You choose your brand, year and model. The pack contains the RTD4interface, the cable if one is needed and the HP Tuners credit pool. You read the ECU at home, we prepare the calibration, it comes back through TDN, you flash it following the guided procedure.

If your motorcycle also carries a speed limiter, it goes in the same operation: the values we encounter are detailed on the page speed limiter removal.

The CFMOTO range is the most concerned today, with a very wide A2 catalogue; Harley-Davidson et Indian Motorcycle also offer restrained versions depending on the market. In every case we confirm feasibility for your year and model before you order.

Frequently asked questions

What exactly is an A2 version inside the ECU?

A cap. Maximum power is bounded at 35 kW, about 47 horsepower, by calibration values: limited torque request, contained throttle opening, sometimes a dedicated spark map. The mechanics themselves are those of the full version.

Does a part have to be changed to recover full power?

In the vast majority of cases, no. When the restriction is in software, everything happens inside the ECU: we put the calibration back to the full-power configuration and the motorcycle recovers the manufacturer's original torque and top end.

How long does it take and where do I have to go?

Nowhere. Reading and flashing happen at your place, on the diagnostic socket, with the HP Tuners RTD4 interface. Count on an evening between reading and flashing; we prepare the calibration in between.

Can I go back to the A2 configuration afterwards?

Yes, free of charge and by your own hand. The configuration read before the mapping is saved: you restore it with the same RTD4, as many times as needed. It is also what lets you sell the machine on in its original configuration.

Is it compatible with a Street or Custom Remote tune?

It is the same service. Restoring full power is part of the calibration work: Street Remote brings our proven setting, Custom Remote adds a datalogging campaign on your own motorcycle and rounds of adjustment.

Which brands are concerned?

Every motorcycle in our catalogue delivered in a restricted version, CFMOTO first of all, where the A2 range is very wide. Give us the exact year, model and trim: we confirm feasibility before any order.
